Ever since this happened I’ve been dreaming about Fringe/Star Trek crossovers, to the point of assigning Fringe characters to Starfleet positions. And then I was like WELL WHY NOT JUST PHOTOSHOP IT because I don’t have boundaries. The positions are a little murky because of the constraints of finding screencaps that fit together (which is also why I didn’t include everybody, SORRY), but here are the vague assignments:

Broyles is captain (and a Vulcan)

Olivia is first officer

Atlivia is chief of security, and ideally Lincoln and Charlie would be security with her because having the uniform colors correspond with Blueverse/Redverse/Amberverse is half the fun.

Astrid is a science officer (technically she might be more suited to communications officer since I feel like a lot of what she does on Fringe is communications/translation type stuff, but I didn’t have anybody else in blue sooooo)

Alt-Astrid is helmsman

Peter is chief engineer

Walter is chief science officer

Lincoln is navigator/tactical officer

William Bell is already Spock so whatever

Nina is probably some Starfleet higher-up or captain of a rival ship idk

today is craig ferguson’s birthday

*sighs* let’s do this.

i first found his show in my fifth semester at uni. it was in september. it was also in september that my academic life broke me and i started heading down the road of depression.

i was very confused, i started seeing myself as a failure. and with time i saw less and less chance for hope, i had less and less energy to deal with things. etc.

at first he gave me tiny doses of hope. hope that if amazing people like him are out there, maybe life isn’t that dark after all. i had these little moments where even though my social anxiety kept getting worse i wanted to go and meet people because maybe i’ll meet someone who’ll have just a fraction of amazingness that he has and it would be worth it. or maybe i’ll end up with a story half as interesting as his were. i never acted on this that but i was thankful for the positive feelings all the same. they were a few and far between.

then later on when i couldn’t deal with the pressure around me i’d watch his show, hah, watch! i’d marathon earlier episodes of his show because it was the perfect place to escape to. i had this wonderful man that would constantly involve me in his show; when i had a hard time with actual relationships, i still had someone i could “interact” with. and there he was, willing to flirt with and accept a worthless piece of shit like me.

and i did feel accepted, i felt welcome in that beautifully crappy basement, i felt like i belonged there with all the other hobos and miserable folk who wouldn’t judge me. it was like a second home.

then as i still got worse and no longer had any hope or purpose or, well, anything, he was still there. when i had nothing going for me, i still had him and he’d still make me laugh and feel good even if just for 40 minutes.

it would be an overstatement to say he saved my life and i don’t wanna cheapen this little essay with that. but that man fucking held my hand through my depression and oh boy those were miserable times but i cannot even imagine how much worse they would have been without him.

i love you so fucking much and i owe you so much i cannot even express it.

have a wonderful birthday, man.
